ORLY Gel Nail Colour FAQ

Q: What is ORLY Gel Nail Color?

A: ORLY Gel is our line of professional gel manicure products. ORLY Gel Nail Color requires curing under a UV/LED Lamp and should be used with ORLY Gel Essentials including Primer, Basecoat, and Topcoat. ORLY Gel Nail Color provides high-shine, chip-resistant manicures that will wear for up to three weeks.

Q: I got ORLY Gel Nail Color and when I apply it, it won’t dry! What am I doing wrong?

A: ORLY Gel Nail Color is a true gel product and must be cured under an LED or UV light. ORLY Gel Nail Color will not dry on it’s own like a traditional lacquer. Click here to watch a video tutorial for an at-home gel manicure using the ORLY Gel system.

Q: Why does my Gel polish peel off and what should I do?

A: For maximum wear time and to avoid peeling, be sure to properly prep the nail before applying your gel basecoat, color, and topcoat.

To properly prep the nail, file to your desired shape and lightly buff the surface of the nail to create a slight texture. Using a lint free wipe and 3-in-1 Cleanser or Alcohol, wipe the nail plate to remove any dust, oils, or lotions. Finally, apply ORLY Gel Primer to the tip of the nail. Q: How do I remove a gel manicure?

A: To safely remove a gel manicure and minimize damage to your natural nails be sure to use the following instructions. Never pick or peel off a gel manicure as this can cause damaged, weak nails.
First, using a medium grit file, file away the top shiny layer of your gel manicure.

Apply genius remover to the cotton pad in a foil remover wrap and wrap around the nail with the cotton pad on the nail and let soak for 10-15 minutes.

Remove the foil remover wrap and using a Cuticle Pusher & Remover, gently push the gel off of the nail. If the gel doesn’t come off easily, continue to soak for an additional 5 minutes. You should not have to use force to remove the gel material.

After removal, file your nails to the desired length and shape and lightly buff the surface of the nail if necessary. From here you’re ready to apply a new manicure. Be sure to apply cuticle oil to replenish hydration.
